26th Ball of the Year  Torquay

Following the sell-out Spring weekend at Harrogate, some 200 dancers took to the floor at the Town Hall in Torquay at the end of May. A good hotel with excellent food and service, combined with beautiful weather, pretty well guaranteed a successful weekend, and that it turned out to be, with the aid of music by that very competent organist David Last and comfortable programmes ably led by Keith and Eve Stubbs, Jeff and Muriel Aldren, and Richard Purcell and Joyce Hutchins.

Three teenage young ladies who were dragged to the event by their parents later remarked on the elegance of the dancing, and especially, the friendliness of the crowd. They said that it had been the best weekend of their lives. This follows on from similar remarks made last year by teenagers at the Southport Silver Anniversary Ball. Once again, a great weekend, and all are looking forward to the Autumn weekend at Rugby in October.
