What a triumph the Society Spring weekend turned out to be, even the weather was
The Rendezvous Hotel Skipton is fast becoming a members favourite with its great
location well-appointed bedrooms good food and very pretty ballroom.
The MC's for Friday were Deryck and Joyce Feather, they put on a programme of very
traditional Old Time and brought along two of their teenage grandsons with their
dance partners who were an absolute delight. The boys wore white shirts with black
trousers and ties, the girls were in red and black dresses and befitting their status
white ankle socks. The youngsters got up for every dance and said what great fun
they had dancing Old Time, so refreshing.
Ann and John Rainey were the leaders for Saturday evening and included a couple of
their own dances. Ann wore a black dress edged with netting topped with a black and
grey butterfly sleeve over blouse John was in evening suit, I'm sure that man has
springs in his shoes, a superb display. The air conditioning sprang a leak during
the dancing but was quickly dealt with by a fast reacting James and the use of a
lined waste bin, giving rise to many a quip about kicking the bucket and dancing
around handbags. An excellent raffle was held during the interval.
On Sunday evening the Society's very own Robert and Christine Haywood took the lead.
Christine dressed in a very fetching blood orange pleated skirt and white blouse
with matching colour flowers and Robert looked very smart in his evening suit. They
always make their dancing look effortless and are such a joy to watch. Robert now
had a new title Minister of silly walks, great fun. The music was played by David
Ingley who did a fantastic job all weekend
All in all a special event of fun friendship and above all wonderful dancing with
a hundred attendees. Hope to see many more of you at the Ball of the Year in Norwich.
